Before Ketchup / Curtice Brothers

Ogilvy Berlin

In order to promote the traditional Curtice Brothers brand and its ketchup, Ogilvy Germany took advantage of a piece of art history in this series of advertisements. More precisely: real historical paintings showing people and their meals before Curtis Brothers ketchup saw the light of day in 1868. Because if you look at the faces of the people portrayed, it quickly becomes clear that before the invention of ketchup, food was a pretty bland affair.
